The Society
was founded in 1982 by a group of individuals committed to
preserving the history of Whitefish and the Flathead Valley
for the present and future. Since its inception the Society
has grown to over 200 members from all parts of the United
States and Canada.
In 1990 the Society acquired the Whitefish Railway Depot
from the Burlington Northern Railroad and Depot Committee
was formed to oversee its restoration. The project took three
years, hundreds of volunteer hours and generous monetary
donations to complete. >
